tutti i capi di abbigliamento partono da un modello di carta di 2 dimensioni. Ciò che li fa differenziare l’uno dall’altro è il tessuto, è la tecnica, è la costruzione. Però il modello in 2 dimensioni non sempre è facile da riconoscere: non sempre è facile capire cosa si nasconda sotto a strati di tessuto.
Let’s start from the beginning: each and every garment start from a 2 dimension pattern. Every garment is different from each other by fabric, techniques applied, and its construction. The pattern you have under a finished garment is not easy to spot, though: fabric, drapes, etc can be confusing sometimes.

Com’è composto il vestito di Jennifer Grey?
Il vestito è composto da:
- Corpino davanti superiore con pince di vita e scollo molto pronunciato sul centro davanti. Le spalle sono segnate all’estremità del corpino base. Il corpino termina poco sotto al livello vita;
- Corpino davanti inferiore fascia che parte poco sotto la vita e termina 5 cm sopra la linea fianchi – ciò da il taglio abbassato del vestito
- Corpino dietro superiore con pince di vita anche qui con scollo molto pronunciato. Le spalle sono segnate all’estremità del corpino base. Il corpino termina poco sotto al livello vita;
- Corpino dietro inferiore fascia che parte poco sotto la vita e termina 5 cm sopra la linea fianchi – ciò da il taglio abbassato del vestito
- Gonna a ruota davanti e dietro di tulle con fodera.
L’interno è foderato e la lampo si trova sulla parte sinistra e va dall’ascella ai fianchi.
How is made this pattern’s dress?
The dress is composed by:
- Upper front bodice with waist darts and a very plunging neckline. Shoulders are drawn quite far away from the neck. The bodice stops a little under the waistline;
- Lower front bodice goes from a little under the waistline to 5 cm up the hips line – this gives the dress the lower cut;
- Upper back bodice with waist darts and a very plunging neckline too. Shoulders are drawn quite far away from the neck. The bodice stops a little under the waistline;
- Lower back bodice goes from a little under the waistline to 5 cm up the hips line – this gives the dress the lower cut;
- Full circle skirt front and back made with tulle and lining.
The dress is fully lined and the zipper is placed on the left side of the dress.
Con che tessuto posso rifare questo vestito?
Questo vestito è stato pensato per un tessuto fermo: non c’è elasticità se si osserva quando Jennifer Grey lo indossa. Scegliere un cady, un raso o anche un taffetà se si sceglie di cucirlo per un’occasione importante permette di avere la struttura necessaria! Saranno necessari inoltre la fodera per tutto il vestito e il tulle per la gonna e qua penso che almeno 6 strati ad essere scarsi farebbero il caso di questo vestito!
Which is the right fabric for this dress?
This dress was created to support woven fabrics: no elasticity is intended when Jennifer Grey is wearing it. Go for a cady, a satin, a taffetà maybe if you wish a luxurious version of it! You will also need lining and tulle, at least 6 layers of it, to get a marvelous dress!
