Ed eccomi arrivata a farvi vedere il mio vestito, quello che ho indossato per fare da testimone al matrimonio della mia migliore amica: potevano non esserci i fiori?!
And here I am, showing you the dress I made to be maid of honor for my best friend’s wedding: AND MOOORE FLOWERS!!!
Questo vestito è stato preparato in ampio anticipo e cucito un pò per volta con dedizione ma, come tutte le cose importanti, finito il pomeriggio prima della partenza. Chi non si complicherebbe la vita il giorno prima di un matrimonio nel quale sei testimone?!
I prepared this dress and started to sew it wayyy in advance but, as usual, I applied the finish touches only the day before going to the wedding.Who wouldn’t complicate her life before a wedding where you the maid of honor?!
Il modello – The pattern
Il modello scelto per l’occasione è il vestito Siren n. #4003 di Decades of Style: sono una grande ammiratrice di questa casa di cartamodelli. Lo stile senza tempo e classico insieme, mi porta a sceglierla molto spesso per i miei vestiti.
I have chosen a pattern again from Decades of Style, number #4003 Siren Sundress. I love this pattern house so much: their patterns embodied the perfect balance, in my opinion, of style and vintage.
Il modello comprende una gonna senza arriccitura in vita, un corpino davanti molto coprente incrociato, una schiena completamente nuda ma comunque coperta dalle stringhe che cingono la vita e la schiena. Il modello iniziale prevede l’applicazione di una tasca sulla parte destra del vestito, che io ho omesso per l’occasione.
A full skirt forms the pattern with no gathering at the waist, a backless bodice “with straps that cross in the back, wrap around the front waist and meet in the back again for a tie“. The pattern was designed to have a front pocket, that I have omitted to give the dress a more classy look.
I tessuti scelti per questo modello sono una georgette leggerissima e un cotone elasticizzato da camicia bianco come fodera.
Il modello iniziale prevede la fodera solo nel corpino e non nella gonna: io ho inserito la fodera anche nella gonna poichè la georgette era trasparente.
I have chosen for this dress a very lightweight georgette and white shirt cotton as lining. The pattern suggested to line just the bodice, but I’ve added the lining to the skirt too, due to the transparency of the outer fabric.
Una delle particolarità di questo vestito, è la costruzione della gonna posteriore: per tenere chiusa la gonna, poichè è aperta e non ha cerniere o bottoni, c’è una cintura interna di gros grain che permette all’abito di rimanere al suo posto.
One of the peculiarities of this dress is the skirt construction. The waistline has an inside belt of the grosgrain ribbon to hold everything in place. Very clever if I may so!
